1) What is Cosplay?
Cosplay literally means costume play, dressing up as a character (or sometimes an item, I have seen someone cosplay as an actual Death Note) from anime, tv, films and games etc.
2) How much do costumes cost?
There is no one answer for this question, it all depends on a few key features:
What your budget is
Whether you are making it yourself
If you are making it yourself what material you use
Whether you will need to get certain items custom made
How many times you have to make an item (accounting for mistakes)
Generally I've seen them cost from £10 to in the thousands it all depends on your budget , the availability of items and the quality you are looking for.
3) Is there an age when you should stop cosplaying?
No.
Unless you feel that your time for cosplaying has come to an end, you should never stop. Sure, you will get the people that say you're too old or it's just for children and teens but as long as you are doing something that you love who cares what they think...
4) How should I prepare for posing for photos?
I know how bad it can be when you are asked for a photo and then you are left standing there just thinking "What do I do", so you just blag pulling some pose only to find it on the internet a couple of weeks later and your face looks like someone just stamped on your foot. Since that unfortunate incident I have come up with a few tips. 1) Find pictures of your character and study the pose they are doing down to a tee. 2) Narrow the pictures down to just handful of poses that you think you can pull off. 3) Now practice these poses by yourself with out your costume on, allow yourself some time and don't be too hard on yourself if you don't get it perfect first time. 4) Put on your costume and show off to your friends all the hard work you've been putting in, asking them for constructive critisism will ensure that you get the best results so you can improve on your weaknesses
5) What is a Commission?
A commission is when you get some to make you something, e.g props, cosplays, fursuits etc. This is a very handy tool for a cosplayer as most commissioners will be able to to make everything to your specific requirements like the costume will be made to fit you perfectly unlike if you brought it from a store.
Hope this helps you guys ^.^
